Kevin Conway's Vintage Movie Posters, Autographs & Sports Memorabilia
"Where Honesty and Authenticity Are #1"For the past 30 years I Kevin Conway have been often overly-conscientious when it comes to buying and selling historical autographs. Investing in history has been a personal passion of mine and in 1998 I turned that passion into a business. And with that I assume every dealer of autograph employs a high standard . Particularly with the collecting genre of autographs where any seedy character can forge a piece of paper or photo and post it on a website or eBay for sale. This unethical practice has been happening more then I care to to think about. But it is a sad reality.
With my passion for collecting has been what I feel a responsibility to report fraud when I see it. So last year I wrote a detailed article on what to look for when considering buying an exciting autograph of one of your most admired historical figures. But in a nutshell, a few things that are common among the most notorious forgers and Sellers of forgeries are "low ball" prices at a fraction of what a genuine example would sell for, Rememer those in the forgery business have no investment in their inventory, they are NOT buying the forgeries, hence they can price then for whatever they want. For example, one website which advertises heavily in Google has Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, John Wayne autographs for $299. And he always has a steady supply. That is IMPOSSIBLE! These type autographs sell for at least Double that in genuine form. And if a dealer DID have prices marked that low, the dealer's inventory would be sold out because other dealers, like me, would buy them all. But this unscrupulous seller seems to have an endless supply of these rare autographs, but ALL are forgeries. And NONE would ever pass professionally certification like PSA or JSA.
As a mater of fact, after I reported this suspicious dealer to eBay , he retaliated by posting several fake online reviews about me , saying he bought a fake "John Hancock letter for over $100,000". This is actually quite comical since I have never owned or even touched a John Hancock letter in my 30 years collecting and never sold anything remotely close to $100,000+ ( I Wish I did have that high level material !!). You may see some of these Fake reviews online
